The headline ingredient is cold-pressed Ascophyllum nodosum — Irish kelp harvested from cold North Atlantic waters, where the seaweed naturally concentrates high levels of auxins and cytokinins. Auxins drive cell elongation and initiate new root tips; cytokinins regulate cell division and move auxins through the plant. Together they produce the rapid, fibrous root flush Start-R is known for.

The formula also delivers an L-amino-acid complex with 18 aminos, which spares the plant the metabolic cost of synthesising proteins itself. Humic and fulvic acids chelate nutrients in the root zone and buffer pH swings. Nitrogen is presented in two forms — a fast-acting mineral nitrate for immediate uptake and an organically-bound amino-acid nitrogen that releases more slowly — so young plants get an instant green-up without the nitrate spike burning tender tissue.

Use from week 1 of veg at 1 ml/L, taper to week 2 of flower. The NPK looks modest (5-0-0.5) precisely because Start-R is designed to work with Basis A+B, not replace it.
